ABOUT YELP :
Yelp is an online urban city guide that helps people find cool places to eat, shop, drink, relax and play, based on the informed opinions of a vibrant and active community of locals in the know. Yelp is the fun and easy way to find, review and talk about what's great -- and not so great -- in your world.
Yelp is hosting this picnic as a way to bring together two things Londoners love: pigs and picnics!
ABOUT PETPIGGIES :
Petpiggies is based in Ridgmont, Bedfordshire where we breed some of the smallest pet pigs in the world. These pigs are known in the media as micro, mini or tea cup pigs.
We are extremely passionate about what we do and care very much for our little piggies.
Petpiggies breed happy healthy little pigs with great temperaments making them ideal pets in the correct environment.
Micro pigs are loving, companionable, compassionate, highly intelligent, extremely clean, non-aggressive, very social, inquisitive and curious.
Petpiggies also provide micro pigs for Television, Film, Digital Media, Promotional Events and Parties.
ABOUT FARMS NOT FACTORIES
"Farms Not Factories is a non-profit organisation working through film-making and campaigning to expose the true costs of cheap meat from animal factories in order to inspire people to only buy meat from real farms.
UK farmers are having to compete with imported pork from vast animal factories where overcrowding and lack of bedding cause the animals stress and disease which means they have to be routinely given antibiotics just to keep them alive. This leads to antibiotic resistant superbugs that will bring an end to antibiotics as a cure for human diseases.
We’re working with Yelp and Petpiggies on London Pignic to show people that pigs are intelligent and sociable. If everyone saw pigs as pets like dogs, they would be happy to pay a fair price to the family farmers whose methods care for pigs, public health and the environment. Only then will we see the end of animal factories.
Take the Pig Pledge and pledge to only buy meat from real farms, not animal factories - or go meat-free!"
